I think getting to the Series in 2004 was special because the Cardinals had not been there for 17 years. And they beat Clemens to get there. And it was their best regular season in a long, long time. And the 2004 WS loss wasn't even the most embarrassing failure of that year's playoffs...or the year before's playoffs.

2004 was the most fun Ive ever had as a Cardinals fan, in total. I watched so many games, went to Busch more that season than any other, and was with fellow fans almost every postseason game. The WS no show was super depressing,but that was a great summer for me.

2006 world series was so ugly that I didnt feel the exhileration I felt in the NLCS in 04. And the absurd joy of 2011 August comeback n on makes me content to say that 2004 was my favorite season in terms of an entire summer.

I felt exhilaration. Felt enough exhilaration to drink until I became violently ill. Had waited over two decades for that. In 2011 I had to work the next day so I just toasted with the wife.
