I didn’t know this:
Quote:
Few stars of Flood’s day publicly supported him in his decision. A retired Jackie Robinson, however, testified on Flood’s behalf.

One of the most dramatic moments of the trial occurred when Robinson, whose health was declining because of diabetes, walked to the front of the courtroom using a cane. Flood described the moment in his book, The Way It Is.

When Flood told Robinson, “I really appreciate your taking the time and effort to do this,” Robinson replied, “Well, you can’t be out there by yourself.”

“I remember these words very well,” Flood wrote, “ ‘You can’t be out there by yourself and I would be remiss if I didn’t share these burdens with you.’ ”

It’s time for Curt’s contributions to the game to be recognized.

The Curt Flood story would really make for a good baseball movie. Could do it in the Moneyball style of where it involves baseball but i mostly what takes place behind the scenes of MLB.

I met Curt Flood's daughter at a Cardinals/LA game at Dodger Stadium a number of years ago. I talked about in this thread:

MLB will likely never honor Flood, but the player’s union most definitely should.

They have old Gussie in left field and not Flood. Which tells you all you need to know about MLB.

I agree. Would be a great period piece.

I think that all of the old owners that Curt pissed off back then are all gone and dead so it shouldn't be any reason for them not allowing them to use MLB licensed names and uniforms in the movie at this point in time. Chadwick Boseman would be great for this role but since he's already played Jackie Robinson probably would have to look for a different actor in the lead role. What about his Black Panther co-star Michael B. Jordan?

Or a new up and coming actor. I think a movie like that might be better in the hands of indie, dialogue driven guys instead of the big budget popcorn producer types.
