Schumaker will earn $2 million this season and $2.7 million in 2011. The deal also contains performance bonuses that could bring the total value to $5 million over two years.

Yes. This was his first year of arbitration eligibility. It's possible that by that time they're ready to fully commit to Dan Descalso as the every day starter in 2012? Let Dan spend the entire year at AAA, and then potentially fill a MLB bench role next year after Lugo is gone.
