Re: The return of Tortycraig
3 for 4 with 2 homers and 5 RBI last night; Craig gets activated by the Cards today.

The day has arrived. I'm going to predict that they send Robinson down. The need for a RH bench player is not as great now with Craig back and Greene essentially out of the 2b rotation. With Skip hitting, he'll stay in the lineup.

This has a positive impact on my fantasy roster. Thank you TLR for getting Craig into enough games at 2B to give him eligibility there all season long. Now, I'm counting on you Matheny to get him some consistent AB's.

It seemed like it was announced 5 months ago that Craig would miss the first month of the season.
Right on target.

Re: The return of Tortycraig
Wood was one of three guys with some MLB success without big time stuff that were fighting for a rotation spot(the other two being Volstad and Wells). Wood was a disaster in ST so he lost that fight, and when Dempster got hurt he was in between starts while Wells was due to throw and thus got the callup. It's not really a service time thing as it is intentionally having SP depth. For the purposes of this thread though, the point is a valid one. Wood isn't a washout, he's supposedly a MLB caliber pitcher, and Craig roughed him up good.Swirls wrote:Except LaHair is having a great start to the season, so it's somewhat defensible to keep Rizzo at AAA. The Cubs starting rotation is not having a great start to the season. Course, Wood isn't a stud prospect like Rizzo, either...

Craig was added, Komatsu was DFA'd.Fat Strat wrote:The day has arrived. I'm going to predict that they send Robinson down. The need for a RH bench player is not as great now with Craig back and Greene essentially out of the 2b rotation. With Skip hitting, he'll stay in the lineup.
They just can't quit Shane Robinson.

Re: The return of Tortycraig
That's the hard decision but probably the best decision for the team on the field right now. It was going to happen eventually -- it's extremely difficult to keep a Rule 5 guy on your roster when you're trying to contend. I'll give Mo some credit. I didn't think he would cut bait with Komatsu even though it was becoming obvious that he's not much of a player (yet).
You have to wonder if the Nats might have something going on right now in their system to where they would have to think twice or make some other roster move in order to take him back. He's probably gone, though.
Sugar Shane probably won't stick all season, but it's tough to send a guy down when he's OPS'ing close to 1.000. He might prove to be a useful PH guy.

Re: The return of Tortycraig
Considering we have Shane Robinson, Cedric Hunter and Adron Chambers to keep seats on the Memphis shuttle warm, I don't think we'll make a move to keep Komatsu.
