I think it's time to re-evaluate our season. We probably have too many obstacles to overcome and make a serious run in the playoffs. I definitely wouldn't trade prospects away to try and re-tool. I would just try to get everybody back and healthy and see how things shake out.
I agree we just need to survive and get guys healthy, but completely disagree with your statement about re-evaluating the season. My evaluation of the season is to survive this wave of injuries, get healthy, and then win the World Series. Hang around until the trading deadline and see what we can do to improve the club. I don't see why not.

Oh boy. Oh boy.

The original diagnosis was impingement, which, though not great, is treatable (in many cases, with surgery that shaves off the tip of the acromium to give some more space in the joint. I had it done and it did wonders). In the long run, the best you can do is try to manage it by strengthening the muscles behind the shoulder.

This very likely does not end well for Jaime.
I don't have a crystal ball, but having just dealt myself with this type of injury I picked up on it weeks ago. What really gave it away for me was how he would occasionally just bounce a pitch up there at 40 feet (guarding), and how he never ever could come off the mound and make a quick off balanced throw to 1B. He threw the ball all over the place. When you have this type of injury you can mostly guard against it and at least pitch with some resemblance of not being hurt (the occasional 40 footer not withstanding), but when you have to get your arm out of that magic slot and really uncork one ... ouch.

Garcia was really good for Springfield tonight.

4.1 IP (64 pitches, 44 strikes)
6 K's
0 BB's
2 hits
1 ER (on a long ball)

Second rehab start went well too. He's given up 1 ER in 6 and 2/3, and may only make one more rehab start.

Kelly to the pen? Browning to the minors?

Great to see Jaime doing well, but I will hold my breath with every start, assuming he's headed to the rotation.

I like the idea of having Kelly come out of the pen. But, I also like the idea of him staying stretched out so we can use a 6th starter every now and then or if Jaime isn't 100% his old self. I think that 3 lefties in the pen is extremely redundant, so I would probably send Browning down, and let Kelly pitch out of the pen in long relief.

I would like to give Kelly a chance to see how he performs in a relief role, because once the rosters expand, I think you could use Miller as the 6th starter, bring Browning back up, and then see where Kelly fits in the bullpen pecking order. I think he could be very effective in relief -- similar to what Lynn was last year.

Kelly was the closer for USC Riverside, and from the reports I read would occasionally hit triple digits (i.e. Cleto velocity rather than Motte/Boggs velocity).

looks like he was not very good tonight (but had bright points)...

6ip and 5er

but he did have 5 strikeouts in those 6 innings and walked none...
