The perks he received in Houston were ridiculous and it couldn't have gone over well in the locker room. He didn't have to travel with the team, practice with the team, and he only had to show up every 5 days. No matter how good the player is, that is never going to go over well with the team.
In my experience as a player, there would be lots of patience for special treatment for someone clearly better than everyone else, and clamoring to get or keep him.
Two common schools of thought: A --
Does he think he's better than me? He damn well should! Does he deserve stuff I don't? You betcha! Go get him!!
and B --
Who does he think he is? I hate the sumbich, he's a jerk. When's his next start, we need a big win! Go get em Rocket!
