I missed him pitch.
http://www.stltoday.com/blogs/sports-bi ... r-framing/La Russa described Kelvin Jimenez and Dennis Dove, both of whom remained with the club after Sunday’s start, as prospects he’s recently spoken with about how their situations have changed this camp. In La Russa’s words, they came to champ with “no chance, now they have an outside chance.” He said he spoke with them to make sure they understood that “they are being looked at differently” than from the early days of camp.
Dove did nothing to bruise his chances in an inning of work Sunday.
The Mets scored two runs off him, but both were unearned. The first batter he faced, Beltran, cracked a single on a 94-mph fastball. Dove pelted David Wright with a series of fastballs — 95 mph, 94 mph, 94 mph, repeatedly — and Wright fouled off two before chopping a 95-mph sinker to shortstop. A throwing error kept that from being, at worst, a force out and second base. Instead both runners advanced to scoring position.
Moises Alou bounced a 95-mph skipper through the hole to bring both runs in.
Dove got the next two hitters out to end his inning. He pumped a 95-mph fastball up to Shawn Green and the lefty popped it up to center field. Jose Valentin saw a 95-mph fastball and then Dove bent a 76-mph curve past him. Valentin could only watch it for a third strike — the final out of the inning.
im on his bandwagon. i like his delivery too....its funky (well, i think so)
