Dusty has no positive qualities for a major league baseball team. None. Anything that he can be credited for could also be done by a friendly hobo on a park bench.

My interpretation of Dusty Baker.
People who don't understand me have never played the game.
Leadoff hitters are speedy guys who can steal us a base- like Brock, or Wills, or Henderson. Pierre with a .280 OBP is a better fit at lead-off than Murton even if Murton puts up a .400 OBP. Murton isn't a basestealer.
Starting pitchers pitch until their effectiveness wanes. You didn't see Gibson pulled from a game because he threw 120 pitches.
A very stubborn anti-sabermetric guy. Plays "his guys" people who understand where he's coming from (these are usually veterans)
Creates an environment where blame is thrown at the non-believers of his idealogy (by him and with tacit approval toward his players)- Broadcasters, Reporters, Umpires, fans - they never played they don't get it. Never acknowledge personal responsibility.
Arrogance from a manager can be a good thing (see LaRussa) . Arrogance stemming from stubborn ignorance is not (insert political reference here)
