Am I the only one that thought the Pie for Greene seemed a little John Gall-ish? Would anyone other than CardsTalk and Cubbie fans make that trade?

In a vacuum it looks like an ok trade, but it does nothing to address San Diego's power needs.BigDCardlvr wrote:Am I the only one that thought the Pie for Greene seemed a little John Gall-ish? Would anyone other than CardsTalk and Cubbie fans make that trade?

Re: The Annual Trade for Rocco Thread
lol...gotcha..
Would you trade Pie for Greene knowing that you don't have a viable SS option and knowing what's out there on the FA market at this point (clearly nothing better then Greene, unless you're going to sign A-Rod and move him to SS...which ain't happening)?
I don't know what point there is in trading a known commodity for a guy who has been touted as the next Willie Mays for the last 3-4 years but hasn't done squat thus far in the majors..

I mean no disrespect to Pie as a prospect, but I wouldn't. But I'm a huge fan of Greene. He's not a tremendous hitter, even for a SS. He's not a tremendous defensive SS. But he's a very good defensive SS, and that combined with his average offense (slightly above for his position) makes him a top 10 SS in my mind, and one that doesn't cost much until 2010.

Rumoredly, such a deal was possible in July.BigDCardlvr wrote:Am I the only one that thought the Pie for Greene seemed a little John Gall-ish? Would anyone other than CardsTalk and Cubbie fans make that trade?

Re: The Annual Trade for Rocco Thread
I really don't like Khalil Greene as a hitter, and I like him even less so in the context of the Cubs offense. And I like him even less than that if we're giving up Felix Pie for him.
