Waxing Nostalgic
All this talk about logos and whatnot has got me thinking....
If there's one thing I wish the new stadium had as a nod to the past, it would be the giant neon Anheuser-Busch "A" with the Eagle that flew, flapping his wings when the Cards hit a HR or won, etc (the twin of the one on Hwy 40...not sure if it's still there). And the little neon red cardinals that flew around, too.
Just sayin'

That would be sweet and yes that one is still on Hwy 40.bronx_bird wrote:All this talk about logos and whatnot has got me thinking....

I'd forgotten about the flying Cardinal.bronx_bird wrote:All this talk about logos and whatnot has got me thinking....

I like it. Can we put the clock/baseball up there too?
Would I be going overboard if I suggested pink seats?

I know I'm in the gross minority here, but I miss the tobacco smoke from cigarettes and cigars that mixed with all the other ballpark food smells. I don't miss it in bars or restaurants, but in an open air stadium....I miss it. Weird, I know.

And I believe there still is one off of the New Jersey Turnpike right next to Newark Airport.cardinalkarp wrote:That would be sweet and yes that one is still on Hwy 40.bronx_bird wrote:All this talk about logos and whatnot has got me thinking....

I've seen one in NJ, but the one I'm thinking of is on I-78 out toward the brewery, and it spins around on a pole.Fan_In_NY wrote:And I believe there still is one off of the New Jersey Turnpike right next to Newark Airport.cardinalkarp wrote:That would be sweet and yes that one is still on Hwy 40.bronx_bird wrote:All this talk about logos and whatnot has got me thinking....

Don't think I've seen the one near the airport. Does the eagle fly?

Me too. It allowed me to go to a lot of games in the '70s - I practically lived in the LF bleachers. Although kids can still do that for $1 out here at Coors ($4 for adults) in the Rockpile (above the batter's eye in CF)jim wrote:lol.Redbirdruss wrote:I miss $6 Beers
