What's up with lil Dunc?

Post by TheoSqua »

in his first five games in AAA Chris Duncan is putting up this amazing line: .167 .348 .222 .570

Granted it's only 18 at bats through 5 games, but I was really hoping to see him turn it around in AAA and come back up mashing. This doesn't exactly bode well for that happening quickly...

He's not very good is what is up with him. He has good power, good plate discipline, but overall a long and kind of wild swing. His head moves around alot when he swings, on some of his swings and misses I've whinced in pain as his head recoiled from the shock. If I did that I wouldn't be able to move my neck for a week.

That's what I always wanted, but I wonder if he ever had any real trade value.

If a soon-to-be-DFA'ed Jim Edmonds can net a AAA thirdbaseman, I'd think that Duncan could get something a little better.

I'm sure the truth is somewhere in between all of these answers. It's been easy to be blinded by his last two years' performance; there's a good chance that he overperformed. But as Theo states in the original post, we're talking about 18 AB's and 5 games.

++

Duncan's hernia surgery and power outage late last season stole his most valuable time as a trade commodity.
