Listened a bit to the Dodgers/Brewers 1rst inning on the car radio, during my commute home. The broadcaster, Charley Steiner said Matt Kemp was named "player of the week" in each of the 1rst 2 weeks of this young season; Kemp also got the honor the last week of last season. That's 3 in a row! I wonder if that's happened before. Then right on cue, Kemp nailed a double off the CF wall.

Kiko Calero was in the crowd and caught the ball.

How many basepath outs does that make it for Al so far this season?

Youkilis went 0 for 4 tonight with 4 strikeouts as the Red Sox lost to the Rangers 18-3.

In the 8th inning, Melancon failed to record an out while allowing 6 ER on 3 HR, ballooning his ERA to 49.50 on the season. According to this, it was the first outing like that for a pitcher, ever. Valentine might want to consider a quicker hook, or perhaps he should suggest to the media that Melancon just hasn't been into baseball much lately.

Quote:
If Melancon throws 20 consecutive shutout innings after this outing, he will only lower his ERA to 4.50.
