My compliments to the Cards..

Post by lambeausouth »

Four games in, gang, and there have been some great performances thus far. Braun and Pujols are both putting on hitting clinics...

The two of them in the NLCS:

Pujols: 8 for 15, 4 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI. .533 AVG and a 1.000 SLG (for the postseason Pujols is 15 for 35, 7 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBI. .429 AVG and a .714 SLG
Braun: 7 for 16, 2 2B, 1 HR, 5 RBI. .438 AVG and a .750 SLG (for the postseason Braun is 16 for 34, 6 2B, 2 HR, 9 RBI. .471 AVG and a .824 SLG)

We've seen some offensive explosions, some good pitching, and some really nice comebacks. All in all, this has been a great series. And while I certainly hope the Brewers win two more, I've got a lot of respect for the Cardinal players. They're kicking some butt.

As I said earlier, should you guys win, I'll be here to give my congratulations. I hope should that happen you'll permit me to chat with you all during the Series, and cheer you on.

Go Brewers!!!!! :P

PS, let's hope this is the start of a nice rivalry. No reason why our teams and fans have to hate each other.

Thanks. It has been a good series.

I just wish I didn't have to be at work at 6:00am and could stay up past the 5th or 6th inning to catch the end of the games. I hate 8pm start times.

Thanks, but I'm going to have to disagree with your last point.

no reason for the teams to have to like each other -subscribing to the Bob Gibson mentality... however the fans have no reason to follow suit. From what I am told by my Cardinal fan family that take in a few games up in Milwaukee - the tailgaiting outside Miller Park is great - and that is what matters.

Go Cards and Go Packers

This, for miles and miles. Lose the showboating, and even though you haven't very often, act like you've been there.

lighten up -if they have enough energy, talent, and focus to be idiots and still play good baseball then more power to them. If Cards and Larussa let their nonsense get in their heads and affect how they play - which I doubt - then Cards are pretty lame. The best way to beat them is to beat them.

As for the fan angst thing, well, I want the cards to whip them just as much, even if they and their fans* were all humble choir boys.

*as for my Brewer fan stereotype - they don't have to deep baseball roots Cardinal fans have. Brewers are typically just a fun way to enjoy summer drink beer and pass time waiting for the Packers and Badgers. Not saying Brewer fans don't know baseball or want to win, but it is definitely not a baseball town first. If a regular Packer game ran at same time as a playoff Brewer game -you can bet the Packers would win the ratings. Up until this year, a typical game in Miller Park against Cubs or Cards would have as many opposing fans as Brewer fans.

Yeah, I thought D'Marco Farr made a good point. Did you guys get upset every time the '99 Rams did the bob 'n' weave?

I'm going to side with Cox and IMA, I really hate their team. Prince annoys the [expletive] out of me. Ryan Braun has a line of Affliction apparel. Nyjer Morgan is a disgrace to the game. Greinke talks trash on Chris Carpenter the same way a 4th grader would. Next he'll be telling the press that Pujols is a booger-head and Yadier has coodies.

The fans though? I have no problem with them. The Brewers fans at Busch have been easily the nicest visiting fans I've enountered in post season play. (Phillies fans were obnoxious, Mets fans were even more so obnoxious, and the Padres fans were non-existent)
