Matt Adams is available and, presumably, cheap. The Red Sox need power. It seems to me that picking him up is a no-brainer for the Sox. It might mean Hanley gets upset, but who cares?

I feel like it's important to understand that Matt Adams isn't very good

MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports that the Braves "have had no movement" on a potential trade of Matt Adams.
Adams is a non-tender candidate but the Braves are shopping him around first. Feinsand's source says it's "too hard to tell at this point" whether the first baseman gets traded, non-tendered or even kept by Atlanta. Adams is projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to make $4.6 million in his final year of arbitration eligibility.

NEW YORK -- Atlanta first baseman Matt Adams, former Chicago Cubs closer Hector Rondon and Detroit Tigers reliever Bruce Rondon were among 26 players who became free agents Friday night when their teams failed to offer them 2018 contracts.

Six years ago this Friday, Pujols signed with the Angels, which topped an offer from the Marlins. What the [expletive] would the Marlins be doing right now if Pujols signed?
