lol I remember this. Didn't that swing essentially put the finishing touches on his oblique and sideline him for the year?

looks like you are right.
Brad Penny left Friday's start against the Angels due to injury.

It's not immediately clear what the injury is, but he may have exerted himself on his first career grand slam in the third inning. Penny gave up four runs over three innings before exiting.

then as i was scrolling thru old rotoworld blurbs on him, there was this one
A team source told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Joe Strauss that a reasonable timetable for Brad Penny's return from his lat strain is 4-6 weeks.

Neither Penny nor the team has set an official timetable for the right-hander's return, so this is the closest we've come to having a sense of when Penny might rejoin the Cardinals' rotation. The same source said that Penny might be able to throw off a mound this week. Penny was off to a strong start for St. Louis, with a 3-4 record, a 3.23 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP in nine starts. Adam Ottavino and P.J. Walters will remain in the rotation for the time being with Penny and Kyle Lohse out for the foreseeable future.

Tommy Pham went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Saturday in the Rays' victory over the Indians.

It's the eighth homer of the season, and it was the third of the day hit off of Carlos Carrasco. Pham has now driven in 24 runs over 48 games, and he's 6-for-9 in his stolen base attempts along with his .290/.398/.473 slash. The Rays probably won this trade.

MLB.com: It sounds like the Rays are making you feel at home.

Pham: Definitely. They are very appreciative. They respect everything I do. They are just glad to have me.

MLB.com: Did you feel that way in St. Louis?

Pham: I felt like my teammates loved me, but not necessarily the front office.

MLB.com: Why is that?

Pham: It’s something you have to talk to Mo [Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak] about. Mo didn’t give me a chance like these guys did.

MLB.com: Did you think it was a money deal, meaning did you wanted an extension?

Pham: I never wanted an extension. The team came to me regarding an extension. I planned on taking it year by year.

MLB.com: You did something that is unheard of. Even though you had a great season in Tampa last year, you asked permission to play in the Dominican Winter League. Why did you do that?

Pham: I feel the more I play, the more I get better -- just to go out there and keep playing, keep learning regarding my craft.
God damn I miss Pham.

Calls Mo right out.

That was one of two things about Luke: 1) developing another pitch, and 2) staying healthy.

There a link on this? I just see forearm strain IL visit. I know that worst case is TJS, but just wondering if there's anything official...
