Yadi is the only opening day starter we have left on our team from 2009.

Let's go a different direction.

Colby Rasmus has his first hitting streak of the season. It's up 3 games. In that time his average has sky rocketed from .188 to .227, safely clearing the Mendoza line. He has 1 HR on the year and a line of .227/.271/.341/.612 for an OPS+ of 64 raising his OPS+ in Toronto to 44. It should be noted, he has just 46 games with the Canadian ball club.

He crushed that ball last night.

Beautiful swing. Ugly head. That's Colby.

After 3 weeks, the Cards have 7 OPS'ing more than .900. The Jay's CF has overtaken the Angel's 1B as the more offensive threat and Dave Freese has more HR/RBI's than both combined.

Of course, the less said about Scrote Holliday, the better.

Code:
AVG   HR   RBI   OBP   SLG     OPS
Lance Berkman      .348 /  0 /  2 / .500 /  .522 / 1.022
Shane Robinson     .391 /  1 /  5 / .417 /  .565 /  .982
Carlos Beltran     .298 /  5 /  8 / .403 /  .561 /  .964
Yadier Molina      .288 /  3 / 11 / .362 /  .596 /  .958
Rafael Furcal      .369 /  0 /  8 / .423 /  .523 /  .946
Jon Jay            .349 /  2 /  4 / .391 /  .535 /  .926
David Freese       .333 /  3 / 15 / .382 /  .529 /  .911
Matt Carpenter     .282 /  1 / 11 / .318 /  .513 /  .831
Blue Jays CF       .255 /  3 /  9 / .311 /  .473 /  .784
Angels 1B          .246 /  0 /  4 / .300 /  .354 /  .654

"Phillies released INF Joe Thurston.
Thurston was off to a rough 5-for-29 (.207) start at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 32-year-old infielder will presumably attempt to latch on with another organization. "

You know, Colby's line isn't as bad as I thought it was. A 784 OPS is fine. But, that's clearly buoyed by one day.

It's fascinating watching the way the Blue Jays handle Rasmus. He hits two homers on Saturday, and on Sunday he's batting 5th. Strikes out three times on Sunday and the Monday he's batting 9th again.

Seems like they are trying to balance wanting the production in the middle of the lineup, but trying to protect his confidence by batting him low in the order (no pressure there). Since they're in the AL, I don't see the harm of just keeping him in the 9th spot. It's not like you're wasting uber-production there.
