Per Goold, he is headed to St Louis for an MRI on his lat. Marte looks like he will be added to the roster should Linebrink go on the DL.

Maybe he pulled a Jake Peavy and tore the thing off his bone.

He'll have been on the official roster for the regular season but if he never gets into a game as a Cardinal then he won't ever be on the Cardinals all time roster.

I saw him pitching in a spring training game...if I wouldn't have seen him on the mound actually throwing a baseball I would've guessed he was a 50 yr old coach. He wasn't going to be of much use to the Cards that I could tell.

Every camp needs a grizzled veteran who can sing "Home on the Range" and tell tales of road trips that doubled as cattle drives. Linebrink was that veteran for the Cards. The frontier is gone.

Maybe he really *was* throwing 96.
