There's obviously going to be a decline in bat speed as he ages, and I think we all saw that coming/happening. I don't think it's to the point where he has to guess before it's even thrown though. That's not to say it's not happening though.

I don't think he's necessarily guessing before it's throwing, but I think he's reacting sooner than he used to and/or not picking the spin up on the ball as well. He definitely gets fooled more this year than last, and more last than the year before. Going back early in his career I don't know if he ever got fooled.

Wonder if he's had his eyes checked. A slight worsening of his eyesight could make a huge difference in picking up the ball. It's the kind of thing that can happen without even knowing it. You can go from 20/20 to 20/30 over the course of a year or two and never be able to tell.

I'm sure they check for that kind of thing now. An eye exam has to be standard yearly procedure for these clubs.

I love the fact that I feel this way. Every day I wait for news that Albert has gone 3 for 5 with a pair of homers and is busting out of his slump, and every day that he doesn't is a happy little gift. Ha ha ha.
