Even with 7 HRs at this point last year, his slash line was .233/.309/.417. Three of his first seven HRs were of the "just enough" variety so I'm guessing if you take those away, his slash line would be more in line with his current one. Of course, the circumstances were/are a lot different. Instead of being on an underachieving team in first place, he is now on an underachieving team in last place. Instead of fans looking at the silver lining that their slugger's struggles might lead to a cheaper pricetag, fans are booing their freshly signed $240 million franchise cornerstone.

And he didn't get going until May 30th of last year so I'd give it at least then before any knee jerk reactions.

I could not agree more. Mandatory happy flights next year seems very logical. And yes, I do think a squirrel could play second. The only thing I question is the tortoise in the outfield.
