Quote:
After years of delays, ground was officially broken Friday on Ballpark Village in St. Louis, with plans to have attractions such as a Cardinals Hall of Fame and restaurant, a massive Anheuser-Busch-themed bar and a live entertainment plaza in place by Opening Day 2014.

The groundbreaking ceremony commenced at 11 a.m. on the site of the old Busch Stadium, adjacent to the new one that opened in 2006.

Quote:
The project will include a large building north of the stadium that will house a venue called “Cardinals Nation” on 30,000 square feet over three levels. Cardinals Nation will have three parts: A two-story restaurant, a Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum, and a roof deck featuring more than 300 seats that peer directly into the stadium. The roof deck will also have three patios and two bars.

A second building will house a two-story, 20,000-square-foot “Budweiser Brew House,” showcasing Anheuser-Busch’s history in St. Louis. It will include a deck overlooking the stadium and an outdoor beer garden.

Phase 1 will also include an entertainment area known as “Ballpark Village Live!”—complete with a 40-foot LED screen above a stage. The team expects it to be a popular gathering place on game days, but Cordish said it will also host more than 100 events throughout the year, such as festivals, concerts and art fairs.

Sounds pretty damn cool. Anything is better than a parking lot & the biggest POS most un-level softball field you've seen in your life.

I'm excited to drink expensive Bud light out of those big aluminum bottles at BPV.

It sounds like the Cardinals will be getting some rooftop seating for their games. Not only does the Cardinals Nation building having that but it sounds like the Budweiser building will also.

I assume that Budweiser sign atop that building is a placeholder. I can't believe anyone would put that sign above a building adjacent the huge "Budweiser" atop the jumbotron. It would look weird for anyone sitting in the South, East, and West sides of the stadium.

Also, naming a restaurant "Cardinals Nation" sounds gimmicky and pandering. Also its not "Cardinals Nation" its "Cardinal Nation." "Cardinals Nation" doesn't even roll off the tongue. :obucardheadbang: They need to rename the place something way better, that sounds way more unique that fits with the seating atop the building.

Call the place "Birdwatchers." This would sound way more unique, non-corporate, and fits the overarching theme of the building. Branding your name on everything you possibly can just dilutes the effect "Cardinal's" has, and makes everything sound like the same place.

Let's meet up at "Recreational Ornithologists", they've got that new craft brew Black Crown.
