What would batting order of the all time Cardinals be?

I think we can agree that the best Cardinals of all time at each position would be this:

P. Bob Gibson
C. Ted Simmons
1B. Albert Pujols
2B. Rogers Hornsby
3B. Ken Boyer
SS. Ozzie Smith
LF. Lou Brock
CF. Jim Edmonds
RF. Stan Musial

So the question is what would the batting order be with all of these guys? My guess at it:

1. Brock
2. Hornsby
3. Musial
4. Pujols
5. Edmonds
6. Simmons
7. Boyer
8. Smith
9. Gibson

simmons is a better hitter but I'd like to see Molina in the catcher discussion for his defense and his ability not to take [expletive] from anybody.

Well you can put who ever you want in your all time Cardinals team, but then list your batting order accordingly.

Ha... you posted that like it was not debatable and then you immediately start getting debates about it. I would also think that Medwick would be a good choice in there over Brock -- highly overrated, imo.

And I think Molina over Simmons is also the way to go.

I like the team and the order.

For comparison, here's what I'm pretty sure my father's squad would look like. Can't say how he'd bat them beyond Brock at leadoff.

He was born in 1916 and saw most of the Cardinal greats from the 20s until he died in 2001. He died in June of Albert's first season.

1B-Musial
2B-Frisch
SS-Marion
3B-Boyer
CF-Moore
LF-Brock
RF-Hafey
C-Cooper
P-Gibson

He liked Medwick a great deal and Slaughter also. So, I don't know for sure if he wouldn't have put one of them in the OF over Brock.

But, he liked Gibson above all.

Generally agree, though I think I'd drop Brock to 7 and Smith to 8 and move the rest up a notch.

I really don't know much about him, but Terry Moore was my dad's all-time favorite Cardinal. I guess I carry on that center field tradition because Curt Flood is mine.
