I hate when fans get excited about something. It's just the worst.

Exactly. If Kyle Lohse had pitched like that last Wednesday, we'd be all over him.

Wainwright did and we weren't all over him.

Wainwright allowed 5 baserunners in 5.2 innings. Darvish allowed 13.

He also gave up three runs and took the loss. Not bad for an ace/cy young finalist without the entire nation of Japan resting on his shoulders, and a press box with a small army of reporters waiting for.

In his much anticipated major league debut, he fought thru early struggles, overcame a lot of pressure and anxiety and showed his team/fans hope for the future. And if the two bloop hits would have found leather instead of grass it's a different outing altogether. His first two innings werent great. His effort to stay with it and fight thru it and shut them down and get the win, is one I stand and applaud. And he hit b.ryan with a pitch. What more could you want.

Beat me to it...we're not allowed to get excited about our new pitching stud...even if he had a bad first outing.

The Ranger fans should have booed him off the field.

It might have been more of the fact that he went from 42 pitches in the first inning to averaging 12 pitches in innings 2 - 6. Pretty gutsy performance in his first start on the biggest stage in baseball.

We all know he could have been rocked in his first start with the Cardinals had the Cardinals signed him, and he would have been given a standing-O as he walked off the field.
