This article completely ignores him: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/led-harper ... --mlb.html

But he's a rookie according to everything I can find.

Bryce Harper is so young, that MLB is going to reclassify everybody this year who is old enough to drink as veterans.

Lynn started the year below the innings pitched threshold for rookies, but above the active service threshold (45 days, not counting September), so he is not eligible as a rookie.

How do you find what a player's active service threshold is?

Lance Lynn is not a rookie. He exceeded 45 days in the major leagues last season, thus using up his eligibility

Rule:

Determining rookie status:
A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

How long was he on the roster though? He only appeared in 18 games and spent a significant amount of time on the DL.

I'm not arguing that he's still a rookie, now i'm just curious how close he was to being a rookie.

You can get a decent idea of his time on the active roster by checking his gamelogs. Lynn pitched a couple games in early June, then pitched fairly regularly from late June through early August. For a more precise measure of his active service, you can go to MLB.com's transactions page. Lynn was called up on June 2 and then sent down on June 10 (8 days). He was then recalled on June 22 and remained on the active roster until he went on the DL on August 10 (49 days, 57 days total). Since that is over 45 days, all before rosters expanded in September, that puts Lynn just beyond rookie status.

B-R has him with 119 days of service as of 1/1/2012. That sounds a little high compared to Kincaid's timeline, but it basically means he was called-up at the start of June and spent virtually the rest of the year on the 25-man roster or the major league DL.
