Just heard radio interview with Dewitt and he said at the very earliest it would be after the All-Star game but he sounded like that was unlikely. Sounded like it wouldn't be until next year that they get started.

This is just a joke.

Have they at least cleaned the place up? At this point I'd be happy with some grass and a couple of trees.

At least its not a sinkhole anymore.

This may have been covered in other threads - but what do GRBers think of the concept of BallPark Village? THough I'd like to see something better at that spot, I am a little wary of entrusting team Dewitt to this task. I personally don't like the planned "village" concept. Contrived. Even the name "village." -meh. I picture another homgenized franchised bunch of nonsense. I wish they'd just sell that land and let capitalism take its course.

No trees, but it's level and full of grass. They also have covered most of the gating that surrounds it with images of what it'll look like when done.

It's been 43 years since STL has had the All-Star game. The one in '66 scared people away because of the heat, and now we're going to redeem ourselves by having a picturesque dirt lot.

Maybe they should take the gates down and just give up. Put a swing set and teeter totter in and call it "Ballpark Playland" or something.
