The Cardinals are considering placing Matt Adams (oblique) on the disabled list.
Adams had an MRI on his right oblique on Thursday, and the results were evidently bad enough that the club might shut him down for a couple weeks. The first baseman hasn't played since Sunday, so if they backdate a DL move, Adams would be eligible to return on May 7.

Re: THE OFFICIAL MATT ADAMS MANCRUSH THREAD
According to Scout.com, it's Jermaine Curtis.
http://www.baseball-reference.com/minor ... rtis001jer
Infielder (and occasional outfielder), bats right, currently batting .292/.386/.458 at Memphis in 58 PA.
Odd choice for a callup, I guess they didn't want to start the arb clock on Wong or Tavares until June if possible, especially for what may only be a less-than-two-weeks callup. But I don't recall even seeing him in any of the ST games this year.
Taking a closer look at him, he has no power (11 homers in six seasons) and not a great deal of speed, judging by his SB totals. Never drove in many runs until this year, as he has produced 17 RBI in those 58 PA, which is pretty darned impressive.
But what he brings to the table (besides his defense, of which I know nothing) is his OBA. .384 lifetime in his minor-league career, .409 career in AA, .411 career in AAA thus far.
It will be interesting to see how he will contribute.

Re: THE OFFICIAL MATT ADAMS MANCRUSH THREAD
Cardinals purchased the contract of INF Jermaine Curtis from Triple-A Memphis.
He's taking the injured Matt Adams' roster spot. Curtis doesn't have much power or speed, but he batted over .300 in the minors the last two seasons and was off to a .292/.386/.458 start at Memphis this year. He'll provide depth at second and third base and can also play the corner outfield spots in a pinch.

So all that talent we are said to have in the minors and our first call-up is a punchless scrub. Oh well.

As has been noted, you don't trade Taveras' or Wong's 2019 year for a week and a half of sitting on the bench in April/May 2013.Vidor wrote:So all that talent we are said to have in the minors and our first call-up is a punchless scrub. Oh well.
