Although I think in the 20's there was no screen and Gehrig and Ruth enjoyed the world series

Mike Kreevich grew up in Mount Olive, IL. The same town my dad grew up in.

Played on the Browns 1944 WS team. And, he was an All Star for the White Sox in 1938.

Kreevich features prominently in Golenbock's "Spirit of St. Louis," which is not a bad book despite his heavy borrowing of material from other books (especially in the chapter about the 1960's). Wish he would update it since it ends with the chapter on McGwire.

@MLBcathedrals First game at West Side Grounds, 1908. #Cubs home (1885-91, 1894-1915). Cubs would go on and have a great year.

The Polo Grounds?

That's outstanding. I'd always heard it had a weird horseshoe shape and a bunch of crazy dimensions, but it's something else altogether to actually see it from above.
