The Cardinals will sign him to a minor league contract. Thus proving that they actually were players for Contreras once and for all.

I doubt it. The Cards are hardly Contrarian about things.

Sounds like he may actually break camp.
Bobby Abreu went 3-for-4 with a double and threw out a runner at home in Thursday's win over the Astros.
Even at 40, Abreu still shows a nice arm in the outfield. He's not hitting too badly, either; he upped his average to .284 today and he has nine walks in 32 at-bats.

Henry Blanco, who will turn 43 in August and thus meets the "older than Vidor" test, might make the Diamondbacks as the backup catcher.

Man. Blanco has only appeared in more than 100 games in a season twice and did not make the big leagues for good until he was 27 but has still played 16 years and batted over 3,000 times.

EDIT: Blanco doesn't get the job. Damn.

Bobby Abreu fails the "older than me" test, and he also failed to make the Phillies
