Hot Stove and The Cards
With July 1st here, and Goold's article we might as well muse about the news.
Goold mentions Seth Smith as the type of guy that could be a "compliment" to our roster. So, I guess he would be a solid 4th outfielder that bats left. If indeed that means we want a 4th OF'r, what does mean for Craig's supposed platoon with OT? Moz also states that if we can find a 3rd/2nd baseman Marp will play the opposite position. Would it be good to move Matt back to 2nd after 1/2 season? I suppose it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But then who's a good guy to look at for 3rd? Could we possibly get Smith and Headley from the Pads? Not a huge splash, but we aren't looking to make one. Be nice to get a guy like Zobrist.

Yeah, I'd be alright with Smith. But really, anything that strikes a little more fear than our current bench.
If we need an infield guy, talk to the Cubs about Valbuena.

What are Smith's road splits? That's a giant park he plays in at home...
The Jay comparison is valid. Kind of redundant. Jay, OT, Holliday, Craig, Bourjos. Jay is permanent. So is Holliday. OT will get all RH match ups. Craig will apparently gets the LH ones. Pete sucks with a bat in his hands. Where does Smith fit in? I assume "compliment" means 'bench strength'..
