That was my point, and there were some excellent posts to back that up.
It's an off-day. We need more debate.
is it really another [expletive] off day? [expletive] this schedule. 3 off days in 8 days. right after the all star break.

I want baseball!
If you are like me, you won't be getting much. I don't do 9:00 start times.

Kershaw has been great but his season does not compare to 1999 Pedro. That's hyperbole. Pedro struck out 37% of batters he faced in a hyperinflated offensive era. That's 2.5 times more than average starter struck out that season. In 2014 Kershaw has struck out 33% which is impressive...but the average starter has struck out 19% So let's back away from that.

lol well...I thought it might be rude so I just decided to lay out the facts w/o being harsh. He's great but not Pedro great. Nobody ever will be again.

It's easy to forget the "juice" factor in 1999 as well.

Comment From Gareth
Sale. Kershaw. Respective cy youngs. Everyone else go home.

Dan Szymborski:
Yes
Sale over Felix? Wow. Sale's ERA is a tiny bit better, but Felix has a better FIP, and has thrown 48 more innings, more K's, more wins, etc, etc. It's similar to the Kershaw/Waino debate because of the innings difference. Sale could take it if he stays healthy the rest of the way, and keeps at his current pace.

My math could be off, but in 2014, I think someone would have to have roughly around a 1.20 ERA or so in order to get to an ERA+ of 291 like Pedro had in 2000. It would be in that neighborhood at least.

They could always play 35 consecutive days after the break, like the 1968 Cards.
