The Diamondbacks have reached agreement on a six-year, $68.5MM deal with Cuban slugger Yasmany Tomas, reports MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez. The deal includes an opt-out that can be triggered after four seasons, and is pending physical, per Sanchez.

The D-Backs are still a few years away from contending not sure why they're spending money like that.

I'd certainly take Trumbo as our 1B/OF bench bat but with 30+ home run power (no matter how bad the rest of his game), some team is going to give up more to have him start.

Man Kevin Towers really screwed up with that trade.

Yeah, he speeds up the rebuild and gives them a potentially franchise player/cornerstone piece for barely $11MM/year. Like Abreu in Chicago. He's also a valuable asset if he ends up being as good as Abreu or Puig or even Cespedes. If this guy becomes a 4 win player for 1.5 win money, they could trade him for a haul.
