Heard Keith Law this morning...he says the Rays were not happy with Myers rehab work ethic. DIdn't like the way he was going about it.

Wouldn't surprise me. He's got a smug, punchable face.

Are Wil Myers' flaws fixable?

Dave Cameron
Two years ago, the Tampa Bay Rays traded James Shields and Wade Davis to the Kansas City Royals for a package of talent centered around outfield prospect Wil Myers. The deal was divisive to say the least, primarily due to Myers' inclusion; teams generally just didn't trade prospects of his stature. When you have a 22-year-old major league-ready slugger who rates as the fourth-best prospect in the game and you have an opening at the position that he plays, you generally build around him instead of using him to acquire an upgrade elsewhere.

This is why I tend to sit back and take a wait and see on trades like this that KC made. The armchair GM's were up in arms over this, couldn't believe how bad of a trade this was for the Royals. These teams have so much more information about a person than we can get, often there is more to it than meets the eye.

When I hear work ethic rumors with a prospect I get very nervous. The level of play is just too high to rely on talent only. You have to work.

Where is he on the Phillip Rivers scale of smug punchability?

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays are "down to two scenarios" for a Wil Myers trade.
One of those scenarios involves the Nationals, but the Rays are still waiting to hear if they're in or out. Topkin says Tampa Bay will give up Myers, Ryan Hanigan, and two lower-level minor leaguers to get Rene Rivera, Burch Smith, and Jake Bauers back from the Padres. Then some some more players would be moved in a third branch of the deal.

You decide. I've got him in the 8.5-8.8 range.

Trade is looking something like this now:

Ross, Smith, Rivera, Bauers and PTBNL (Turner, 2014 1st rounder) from SD to TB for Myers, Castillo and Hanigan.

Turner, Ross from TB to Nats for Souza and Ott.

TB: Smith, Rivera, Souza and Ott
SD: Myers, Castillo and Hanigan
WAS: Turner and Ross
