Partial pardon for Rose?
Lot's of talk about the new commish being open for a partial pardon for Rose - basically letting him be involved in some way with the Reds in some off the field capacity. I wonder if that's going to be enough to placate Rose supporters, listening to the ESPN Deportes podcast this morning and they are talking about this being a full pardon with Rose walking straight into the HOF. That ain't gonna' happen.
I could accept a partial pardon like that to let him take some ceremonial position, be allowed to throw the first ball out ... Much more than that and I would have a serious problem.

In my old(er) age I'm becoming pretty firm on hall of fames and awards being a bunch of crap, so I say let him in. Or don't.

Let him in. I've always thought he should be in.

I don't know what to think of his banishment from MLB, but I think he's a scumbag and don't much care what happens.

I wish that more people understood that the HOF is a private institution separate from MLB, and they could make Rose eligible and admit him to the HOF tomorrow, regardless of what Rob Manfred and MLB do.

Re: Partial pardon for Rose?
From what I have been hearing there is virtually zero chance of him ever being in the HOF. The issue is can he throw out the first ball at a game, or hold some ceremonial position within the Reds organization. It's not about him coaching, or being in the front office, or anything like that. It's a partial pardon if that's how you want to look at it, that's what is being considered.

Seems like the HOF clearly follows MLB's lead on that though. I can't see them admitting him while he's shunned the way he is now.Vidor wrote:I wish that more people understood that the HOF is a private institution separate from MLB, and they could make Rose eligible and admit him to the HOF tomorrow, regardless of what Rob Manfred and MLB do.
