I certainly don't like losing Walden for an extended period, but I feel with Belisle, Maness, Harris, Tui, et. al., they'll be ok. And remember, you never know what might be available closer to the deadline, if it really comes to that.

Yeah, the Heyward trade...may not look so good, in hindsight.

Ouch.

Jordan Walden will be sidelined for the next 6-10 weeks with a right shoulder strain.
The good news is that he doesn't need surgery. Walden was used heavily during the first month of the season and began reporting stiffness in his right shoulder in early May. The hard-throwing setup man will be missed. He had registered a 0.87 ERA and 12 strikeouts over his first 10 1/3 innings (12 appearances) with the Cardinals

See you next season, Jordan. Maybe. Is this his last year or is he arb eligible for one more year?

Players are wusses. Sports medicine doctors are wusses. Agents are wusses.

Per BR, he's signed through next season with a team option on 2017.

Thanks. Was on my phone at the time and didn't want to hassle with multiple browsing windows.

Left because of heat, arm OK - per Goold.

Goold tweeted that Walden's arm is fine, and he was taken out of the game because of the hot weather. It's a dumb reason to be removed from a game, but at least it's not a health concern.
