Probably not in total dollars, but it has certainly hurt some guys in finding a deal and the pick has reduced the value they ultimately received. Kyle Lohse comes to mind.ghostrunner wrote:Has anyone ever lost out by declining the QO?

Ervin Santana was close, but he signed a 1 year deal that was basically the same as the QO. I do think that there's a chance that could happen to Lackey, but I don't think there's much chance at all of him accepting the QO.ghostrunner wrote:Has anyone ever lost out by declining the QO?

Stephen Drew? But that might be more based on him waiting so long to feel out market.ghostrunner wrote:Has anyone ever lost out by declining the QO?
Didn't Nelson Cruz also have to accept a one year deal way under the QO?

Awesome! This is a no-lose scenario. If he leaves, draft pick! If he stays, good pitcher! If he retires, we wouldn't have kept him anyways.
