Probably not in total dollars, but it has certainly hurt some guys in finding a deal and the pick has reduced the value they ultimately received. Kyle Lohse comes to mind.

Ervin Santana was close, but he signed a 1 year deal that was basically the same as the QO. I do think that there's a chance that could happen to Lackey, but I don't think there's much chance at all of him accepting the QO.

Stephen Drew? But that might be more based on him waiting so long to feel out market.
Didn't Nelson Cruz also have to accept a one year deal way under the QO?

Awesome! This is a no-lose scenario. If he leaves, draft pick! If he stays, good pitcher! If he retires, we wouldn't have kept him anyways.
