Off-Season Not Worth Its Own Thread Thread
Indians pick up 2019-2020 options on Francona's contract.
Indians pick up Carlos Santana's option for next year.
Pretty much no-brainers. The Tribe went to the Series without Brantley or Carrasco and with Salazar on limited duty and Bauer having a weird finger thing, and did it spending under $100MM. They'll essentially field the same club next year, with Napoli and Rajai Davis the only free agents who played much of a part in their run.

Dexter Fowler declined his half of a mutual $9MM option for this year, and is a free agent.

For as much as Goold wrote about Kiekhefer, I'm surprised the Cardinals tried to pass him through. Especially since Zach Duke is out for the season.

So the Cubs will bring him back during spring training with Fowler agreeing to take another pay cut.themiddle54 wrote:Dexter Fowler declined his half of a mutual $9MM option for this year, and is a free agent.

If we fail to make a big slash (like Blackmon), then I'd certainly hope we would make him a better offer than what he just walked away from.Farewell Friends wrote:So the Cubs will bring him back during spring training with Fowler agreeing to take another pay cut.themiddle54 wrote:Dexter Fowler declined his half of a mutual $9MM option for this year, and is a free agent.

Blackmon's 31 next year. His career splits are:
Coors: 113 wRC+
Non-Coors: 93 wRC+
Over what should be his peak years, he was not much better than league average at Coors and below away from home. Factor in that he's bad on D, and if his price is anything approaching high, I'd step away.

Yeah I hope the big splash isn't Blackmon.
