I'd have seriously considered a 2/50 type deal. I don't think he was going to be the difference the next two years in making the playoffs or not but may have been enough to move Marp to third and improve enough to double their tiny odds at a title. The pick may or not be that valuable in 3-4 years when the club is really setup to compete and he almost certainly wouldn't have been an necessary piece outside a 2006 unlikely run.

I think he'd have been a fun player to watch play for a couple of years, and the payroll could have comfortably supported it. Ah well.

I know he took less money (or at least less AAV) than what Oakland was offering. I've not heard about any other teams' offer.
