In this case, I don't find the argument that it's going to shorten games very compelling. Better to just keep it more interesting.
I think it's more about keeping it interesting than actually shortening games.

A minute or two of pitch and catch with no real tension and everyone standing around waiting for him to get to first is pretty pointless and boring.
My point is if you get rid of IBB altogether, pitchers are forced to pitch to better hitters. Which is more interesting to me than either a no-pitch walk or the way it's done now.

Gotcha. I see what you're saying but how would you enforce that? The "intentional unintentional" walk would be difficult to outlaw but it is a little more interesting than the no pitch walk or the 4 pitch IBB.

I like having the opportunity to IBB someone and the ceremony of it just seems pointless, to me.

I think it's a lot more than that. I'd guess an IBB happens around once a game on average. Not necessarily once per team, but on average at least once a game. Just a guess, though.
392 in 4856 games.

So 2428 "games" were played between two teams, roughly 16% of games featured an IBB

That's ones that were immediately classified as a IBB. If you add the 'unintentional intentional' it jumps up dramatically. Unfortunately for those, it would count as just a regular BB so it would be lost in the noise of actual BBs by the pitcher.

Kind of difficult I agree, but just require the catcher to stay in their normal position. No standing, mitt inside the box, or something of that nature. At least there's a greater possibility of throwing an accidental strike, or a ball that's "good enough".

I actually kind of liked the IBB. They often happen at a high leverage point in the game. It's part of the theater and draws a tense part of the game out longer. The ones that happen in the 5th inning or something just to get to the pitcher's spot are lame though. But soon there won't be a pitcher's spot any more.

Maybe we can get some executive action on this? Banning the DH?

Please.

The players association will never in a million years allow it to happen. Honestly I'm fine with getting rid of pitchers hitting. Most pitchers aren't good enough hitters to earn a spot on a Rookie Ball team based solely on their hitting. If Madison Bumgarner wants for the Giants to foregone the DH whenever he starts then thats his teams right.

I like pitchers hitting, it adds a little randomness to proceedings (and a pitcher who can hit is a huge boon to a team). Increasing specialisation seems to not be a good thing for the enjoyment of sport, I feel.
