Shouldn't we already be hearing rumors that the parties have agreed to a deal so that no other teams even bother because they know it's a done deal?

He can't actually sign until May 20.
Methinks you're not picking up on MLG's shtick.

We already lost on August 17th.

But we can ill afford to miss out on this window of international signings. We cooked a great cake so far this winter, now let's put the icing on.. I have been watching way too much of The Great British Baking Show...

You can tell Robert about the great history of Cuban players to play for the Cardinals like Ozzie Canseco.

Cardinals looking at Robert

Major League Baseball officially declared 19-year-old Cuban outfielder Luis Robert, living in the Dominican Republic now, a free agent. And Mozeliak, who signed Cuban outfielder Jose Adolis Garcia earlier this year, said the club was interested. Teams can sign Robert, called by scouts a “five-tool” player, any time after May 20.

“You look at the investment we made this off-season in the international market and, clearly, this is something we have to give real thought to,” said Mozeliak, who had two scouts travel to a showcase in the Dominican recently.

Mozeliak said, “Very talented player. He can do it all.”

The numbers could be staggering and the Cardinals would be taxed dollar for dollar in whatever bonus that would be accepted because they went over their international allotment in 2016-17.

“I know the math,” Mozeliak said. “I think we’ll be in the game.”
