Hmmm. I've known both. One guy was a huuuge coworker named Tiny.
I thought it was pronounced "tims?"
Saw a thing on MLB Channel. Thames was pronounced three different ways. Tems, Tims, Thaymes all players and coaches who had that last names spelled it the same
I'm seeing a lot of sites that say the pronunciation is Thaymes, such as Baseball Reference: http://www.baseball-reference.com/friv/ ... uide.shtml

Where I grew up (Jennings) we had a family that produced Mr. Show Me Basketball 1998. Kelly Thames (Thaymes)!

I used to work with Kelly Thame's mom! Awesome lady. She retired years ago though.

Another fun fact, Anthony Bonner's father was a cab driver when I was in high school and Bonner was still in the NBA. He said he didn't need to do it for money anymore but he enjoyed it and wouldn't quit. I was in high school at the time and he drove me home from night near the CWE to Florissant so I was able to have some nice conversations with him.

This is how broadcasters have been pronouncing it.

I could've swore I heard someone on Sportscenter say Tems, so I've probably started the confusion.

Thaymes, as it ever was.

Chris Bosio and John Lackey throwing some PED shade on Thames, without actually saying it directly.

Perhaps someone should have mentioned Jake Arrieta's sudden spike in ability to them.

It's just like when Cecil Fielder went to Japan then came back to hit 50 homers with the Tigers. Maybe Matt Adams should go play overseas for a few years then come back.
