Jose Quintana traded to the Cubs

Post by heyzeus »

Cubs acquired LHP Jose Quintana from the White Sox for OF Eloy Jiménez, RHP Dylan Cease, 1B Matt Rose, and INF Bryant Flete.
The first big trade-deadline domino has fallen, with the defending World Series champs securing a top-flight starting pitcher as they aim to rebound from a disappointing first half. Quintana owns a 4.49 ERA in 104 1/3 innings this season, but he was in a nice groove leading into the All-Star break and the 28-year-old left-hander carries a very team-friendly contract that could keep him in a Cubs uniform through 2020. In return, the White Sox get more high-upside talent for their suddenly-stacked farm system. Jimenez is among the top prospects in the sport, and Cease was recently rated the Cubs' No. 2 prospect by Baseball America.

Makes me wish we had a couple more years of control on Lance Lynn. Lynn and Quintana are fairly similar pitchers results wise, and it would be great to get a haul for him rather than maybe one top 100 guy.

You just aren't trying hard enough. Give them time. Normally the first time they open their mouth as a cub does it for me.

It's not the players that make the Cubs the Cubs. Talk to a fan for a few minutes and you'll rediscover your hate.

Big move.

And with that, the Cubs' minor leagues are shot. This is pretty much what they had to deal.

It does give them a very good 1-3 for the next couple of years.
