Things to know about this game

• Outfielder Yoenis Cespedes returned to the Mets' lineup Monday after missing a game and a half due to a sore left hip. Manager Terry Collins said Cespedes is no longer an injury concern, meaning he should continue to start in left field throughout this series. But the Mets will monitor Cespedes daily given his recent litany of lower-body issues, including multiple hamstring and quad strains the past two seasons.

• Cardinals first baseman Matt Carpenter will carry an on-base streak of 20 games into Tuesday's contest. If he reaches on Tuesday, Carpenter will match the Cardinals' season-high mark, which Yadier Molina set from May 1-27.

• Mets outfielder Jay Bruce has hit safely in eight consecutive games. During that stretch, Bruce has tallied 13 total hits, including four home runs.

I will be there!

My record is 0-2 so far this season when watching the Cards in person (both vs the Yankees).

I will be at Wrigley Friday and Saturday this week as well.

This is a terrible pitcher we're facing tonight.

I expect him to go 7 innings and give up 3 hits while striking out 9.
