Re: 7/25 GDT: Rockies(Gray) vs. Cardinals(Lynn) 7:15 PM CT
Lynn has been discussed as the Cardinals' most viable trade asset, which will most likely put more interest in this start than usual. But despite the increased number of eyes on him, he says it will be business as usual.
"It's the same all the time. You have to win to be successful, so we've just got to do that. We'll be fine," Lynn said. "Just concentrate on whoever's in the box and try to get them out."
Things to know about this game
• Lynn is one of the Majors' most fastball-reliant starters, but he seems to have tweaked his approach just a bit of late. He threw his changeup or curveball a season-high 23 percent of the time last Thursday against the Mets, and for the second straight game, opponents went 0-for-4 against those offerings.
• The Rockies have not won a series at Busch Stadium since a four-game sweep in 2009. They are 12-28 all-time since the ballpark opened in 2006.
• Grichuk has homered in four consecutive games, a career high. He joins Dexter Fowler as the only Cardinals to do so in 2017.

Well it happened. Lynn got another start. Strange to me, that if a team was needing a starter theyd just watch him churn out great start after great start for us. Hopefully today is no different.

Cards fans need to give Lynn a big ovation when he leaves the game.

At this point it would not surprise me if the Cards keep Lynn the rest of the way, make him a QO, and bank the compensation pick. This year's lack of a high-end draft haul has to be weighing heavy on the front office.

I think that'd be a mistake. They might even turn Lynn into two prospects.heyzeus wrote:At this point it would not surprise me if the Cards keep Lynn the rest of the way, make him a QO, and bank the compensation pick. Thanks for the memories, Lance. I hope someone gives you that big contract next year.

I don't think Lynn being traded is a given at all with this organization. I'll be more surprised if he is traded than if he isn't.

article on dukes return
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/zach-duk ... ng-return/Zach Duke’s Groundbreaking Return
by Jon Roegele - July 25, 2017
Of the over 1,400 Tommy John surgeries on professional baseball players that exist in the database, I have what I believe are accurate surgery and return dates for 601 pitchers since the original surgery by Dr. Frank Jobe in 1974. Of those 601 pitchers, Zach Duke’s return to the same level of baseball is the ninth fastest. Former Cardinals pitcher Ken Dayley had by far the shortest return time, recovering from a surgery after the 1986 season to pitch again in MLB before the end of May in 1987!
