The sad part is that most of us saw the writing on the wall before the season began. It would've been nice to make the wild card, but this team doesn't have the horses to compete with the better teams. Lots of holes on this team and I will rely on the smart observers on this forum to keep me informed and my expectations "contained". The bar has officially been lowered....if it wasn't already.
This team was good enough to make the playoffs.

They weren't as good as the Cubs (although the gap was not big at all). But they're better than the Rockies and Brewers.

Sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way.

I'm in favor of replacing Matheny with a clipboard containing a win expectancy chart.

Congrats to those of you who gave up on the season in march or June or whatever I guess.

Cubs have 9 wins against the Cards where they took the lead in the 6th or later.

This entire season has been a replay of 2003. Might as well finish with the same 85-77 record.

Yes. Hopefully that and the sight of seeing their biggest rival celebrating on their field motivates them to make some bold changes.

That hasn't motivated them the last 2 years...why now?

Welp, the Cubs celebrated clinching the central on our own field, and missing the playoffs for a second straight year has resulted in much rending of garments and lamentations of aggrieved Cardinals faithful. Last night my bowling team, Logjammin', went 0-4, and last place is almost assuredly ours. On the other hand, my family's healthy and I'm still somehow gainfully employed, and Mrs. Zeus made pan de queso (Brazillian cheese bread) last night. On the other other hand (I call it lefty), Zeus Jr. Jr. woke up at 5:30 this morning, which is too [expletive] early.

And thus, applying analytical metrics up to and including wRC+ and TAv, I can say with scientific certainty that yesterday was the 4,338th worst day of my life.
