Morrison completely changed his approach so comparing his numbers in 2017 to the rest of his career isn't useful.

diaz had a great year last year...how did he do this year?
pitchers will adjust.
he's been hot garbage his entire career, and changed in his age 30 season?
i'm not paying for an outlier/hoping he keeps it up as he heads into his 30's
there's way to many good options to settle for LoMo...he's the type of guy a small market team/non competitive team signs

sure...but to throw out his career doesn't make senseFarewell Friends wrote:Morrison completely changed his approach so comparing his numbers in 2017 to the rest of his career isn't useful.

Josh Donaldson, JD Martinez, Charlie Blackmon, Marwin Gonzalez, Justin Turner and Daniel Murphy were all terrible or average, they made a few tweaks and are now terrific. I don't know how Morrison projects for the next 2-3 years, but he's a former Top 20 prospect with a track record of success, dealt with injuries, hit exceptionally well in a difficult park and made noticeable changes to his approach. I'm not saying he's the answer, just that he's not someone that should be quickly dismissed.

none of those guys were as bad a LoMo was...i think you need to go look at him again before last year....he was freaking awful, terrible, sucks ass, whatever term you want to use besides his age 30 season.Farewell Friends wrote:Josh Donaldson, JD Martinez, Charlie Blackmon, Marwin Gonzalez, Justin Turner and Daniel Murphy were all terrible or average, they made a few tweaks and are now terrific. Re: Cardinals Also Have Interest In First Baseman
Donaldson before 2013: 85 OPS+ in 328 plate appearances
JD Martinez before 2014: 88 OPS+ in 900 plate appearances
Gonzalez before 2017: 90 OPS+ in 1600 plate appearances
Blackmon before 2016: 99 OPS+ in 1800 plate appearances
Murphy before 2016: 109 OPS+ in 3600 plate appearances
Turner before 2014: 92 OPS+ in 900 plate appearances
Morrison before 2017: 104 OPS+ in 2700 appearances
Everyone besides Murphy was much, much worse than Morrison before their breakouts. And none of them had the same prospect pedigree.

I think Logan Morrison would be a good piece; just not THE piece to the lineup that is needed. So long as adding him is one of multiple moves; I wouldn't hate it.

I can prove nothing and don't even mean to make too strong an argument, but guys like Smoak and Morrison popping in the juiced ball year has to at least provoke a thought.
