I think this thread could be used to post any ideas, conversations, etc about changes to the game that get proposed. I was reading an article about one of Boyfred's favorite topics; pace of game; and figured I would start off with a link to that article. The article specifically points to restricting catcher visits to the mound as a way of speeding up game play.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2017/11/14/speeding-games-on-mlb-agenda-for-next-season/107694240/

Quote:
“I know catchers are out there to try to help the pitcher, so when our team does it, it doesn’t annoy me,” St. Louis Cardinals owner Bill DeWitt Jr. said with a laugh before adding: “I think it needs to be eliminated to a degree.”

Reinsdorf said the Cardinals’ All-Star catcher is among the worst offenders.

“The master of going out to the mound is Yadier Molina, because he’s like a pitching coach. He’s out there helping his pitcher,” Reinsdorf said. “There’s a trillion ways that you could take 20 minutes off the game, and Rob is smart enough to know what they are, and I think he wants to do it, so I think it will get done.”

Start all games at 7 EST regardless of where the game is played.

Need to deaden the ball a bit. Just dial it back a little bit from the "3 true outcomes" stuff.

Oh, didn't know that people are going to give serious answers to this question.

If baseball would just dip a little bit into the modern era we could solve this pace of play thing. A simple in-ear communication system that gets shut off when the pitcher comes to the set position would eliminate the need for anyone to go to the mound except for pitching changes. Give the catcher, pitcher, one INF, and OF'er an ear piece. You could probably also give the C a mic in his helmet and the pitcher a tiny mic on his shoulder, wrist, or glove to talk with the dugout and catcher.

Then set a rule -- you can only visit mound for injuries and pitching changes.

Waino figuring out how to become a grizzled old veteran who can pitch effectively into his 40s. That would make baseball better for me.

Plus the obvious getting rid of the DH thing.

Fewer [expletive] ads between innings and during pitching changes, especially during the playoffs.

Ban all immigrant players, eliminate player health care, roll back all safety regulations like helmets and foul ball netting, and get the Russians to make sure the Cardinals win the WS next year.

Build a taller outfield wall and make the Mexican Leagues pay for it.
