I think he talks like Alan Greenspan or Janet Yellen, which makes sense because they all get trained at the same colleges

My read on the Rays is they probably have some good offers for Colome but they're waiting on the Cardinals because they're the one team that might take Longoria and the Rays really want to dump that contract.

I keep hoping they work out a blockbuster that includes Archer along with Colome and Longoria.
I'd rather have Wade Davis with Gyorko at third than Colome and Longoria and giving up the prospects we'd have to give up to get them.
In fact, I'd rather have Archer than Machado because of risk of losing him to free agency.

And likewise, I think we picked a good time to regroup. We only have a couple pressing needs(closer, starter; respectively) left til we're set. But the possibility of adding a better bat at the one position we could fit Donaldson or Machado at intrigues us. We might just be the only team willing to take Longo and his contract, so that leaves us in a pretty good spot. I think moving that money is very important to them, so they're entertaining ideas.
Sign Davis, get Longo and Archer
Get Colome and Archer and Longo
Sign Davis, get Donaldson, sign starter
Sign Davis, get Machado, sign starter
Get Colome and Longo, sign starter
Get Machado and Britton, sign starter

RIGHT?! I'm already chomping to see these guys assemble this spring. Adding too would be the gravy on the cake.ZigZagCardsFan wrote:That would be a pretty amazing offseason.Sign Davis, get Longo and Archer

Not sure if its been mentioned, but the extra incentive Tampa has to move Longo's money is his 10-and-5 rights that kick in next year. He can veto trades after that.
