Time for Piscotty Watch (officially traded to OAK pg 6)

Post by MrCrowesGarden »

Probably getting lost a little in the Ozuna deal and understandably so...

Slusser is very much the Goold of the A's, so if she says something's happening, it's probably so.

I said this in the other thread and I'll repeat it here. We're not going to like the return for Piscotty. It's supposed to be non-roster caliber pitchers. So, don't expect anyone on any top 100 lists. But, maybe a selection of young, higher upside arms would be possible.

Mostly, we're trying to get Piscotty closer to family while cleaning up our roster and improving our overall depth.

Jesus Luzardo please

Anyone else bummed they gave up on Piscotty so quickly? Would have definitely liked having him around. I think he embodies what makes the Cardinals successful. Good hitter who works the count well and still gives you a decent slash line. Good arm. Fundamentally sound too. Can't look at an outlier season with distractions. I think his first two years are more of what he is and he can be a 120 wRC+ guy at some point soon.

Munoz would be a good Dejong fallback.

DeJong's plate discipline and defense at SS is still a concern to the team.

This is one of those deals where if is happens, I'm not going to worry about what Piscotty does in the future and look back saying that the Cardinals made a bad deal if he gets it together. The reason I say that is because I can see being closer to home removing a lot of worry and stress from him with his mom's condition and playing well. If he were to remain in St. Louis, I think everything continues to weigh on him and he doesn't perform as well as he could without all that nagging at him.

I like Piscotty a lot. He had a great 2015 and 2016. He's my son's favorite player. And I feel really bad about Piscotty's mother's disease.

But I am very nervous Piscotty turned into a not as poor version of Allen Craig last year.

The most important thing in this Piscotty deal is getting his salary off the books. The players coming back would be just a bonus.

I’d keep Piscotty.
