"I know they're Triple-A games, but at the same time, I've never really been able to slow the game down like I have the last four rehab outings," said Cecil, who did not allow a run with Memphis. "You don't really realize how important it is until you really do it. It's just a mental thought process of what you need to do to slow the game down, think a little bit clearer, focus on the right things."
That’s reassuring that he didn’t know to focus on the current pitch.
I've not seen it mentioned anywhere here, but I believe Cecil to be apart of a bigger attitude problem that this team seems to have gotten rid of since he was DL'd. Regardless of his sloppy, falling everywhere delivery he just never looked 'interested' on the mound. Now, there's news of a heart-2-heart talk with Chris Carpenter that Brett recently had, that he's said has fixed him. Right away, you hear that news and think it's a flaw in Cecil's delivery that Carp caught... No, it was related to his demeanor. Seriously. Brett [expletive] Cecil has been pouting, and basically not giving a [expletive]. Until now... I'm calling BS.
