Carlos Martinez and Brent Suter will square in the second game of the series on Tuesday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM. Martinez dazzled on the Miller Park mound his last time out, shutting out the Brewers on four hits over 8 1⁄3 innings while whiffing 10 batters. With a pitch count well over 100 (he was at 114), St. Louis skipper Mike Matheny opted to go to his bullpen. The left-handed Suter has lasted five innings in both of his starts this season, including his most recent outing against the Cubs, when he surrendered four runs on eight hits and three walks.

Suter has pitched against the Cardinals six times in his big-league career. Molina has taken advantage of him so far, going 4-for-7 with a double and two homers. Suter started the first game of the Cardinals and Brewers’ doubleheader last summer and allowed the first of two home runs Jose Martinez would hit in that game.

Down one bench guy with Martinez out. How lovely that Cain eliminates a division rival in an important series(if it wasn't before last night, it is now. We can't afford to continue dropping games while we're short players. It spirals fast). I mean, how perfect is it that he steps on Jose? Jose can't move, he must keep his foot there. Which apparently left him a sitting duck for Cain to stomp him out of the game, and probably out of the division for at least a week. Convenient. We'll see if the FO uses that 10day DL, or if the rehab him for 5 days then use it..

Its been 2 weeks, and most of us need a month sabbatical from this team.

If only the A.S.S. was still around to tell us if we have a chance.

the a.s.s. might be back!
The St. Louis Cardinals are 1-3 at home this season and are solid favorites to beat the Milwaukee Brewers who are 4-0 on the road this season. The Cardinals have a better than 55% chance of winning based on 10,000 game simulations generated one play at a time by the AccuScore Simulation Supercomputer. Cardinals\' starter Carlos Martinez is forecasted to have a better game than Brewers\' starter Brent Suter. Carlos Martinez has a 40% chance of having a Quality Start (QS) while Brent Suter has a 24% chance of a QS. If Carlos Martinez has a quality start the Cardinals has a 73% chance of winning. His simulated strikeout to walk ratio is 3.6 and he has a 25% chance of having a 5 to 1 K/BB ratio. When he has a 5/1 ratio the Cardinals win 66%. In Brent Suter quality starts the Brewers win 61%. He has a 24% chance of having a 5 to 1 K/BB ratio and if he does his team wins 61% of simulations. In simulations we tracked the batter for each team that was most productive based his average hits, walks and RBI per simulation. The most productive batter for the St. Louis Cardinals is Marcell Ozuna who averaged 2.45 hits+walks+RBI. He has a 43% chance of having a big game with 3+ Hits, Walks, RBI and if he has a big game the Cardinals have a 71% chance of winning. The most productive batter for the Milwaukee Brewers is Christian Yelich who averaged 2.48 hits+walks+RBI. He has a 42% chance of having a big game with 3+ Hits, Walks, RBI and if he has a big game the Brewers have a 54% chance of winning.

Can't take anymore bad defense.

Munoz and Garcia at 3B should help a lot. Don't need many runs with Carlos on the hill. Just let 1-4 get some runs and manage the bulllpen right for once.

Cardinals are dead last in Range Runs in the NL.

I only want Jose playing when Carlos and Weaver are on the mound.

I may be getting under Ben Fred's skin. I am peppering him with questions.

Still think that fans being upset with Waino pitching during the home opener, after not pitching in a game situation for three weeks, are dumb and delusional?
