I would think that the front office would do enough trading, cutting , selling , buying , etc. that the field players wake up and say if I don’t get off my ass , I’l be working at Burger King .

It also appears he has the same bullpen management weaknesses as Matheny, but with better options:

I think Oquendo should get it if he wants it. Really don't see a good reason not to. He's done nearly everything else, has the Cardinals history, managed in the WBC, and players seem to like him.

It could be, but the fact that Shildt is the interim manager and not Oquendo at least makes me wonder what the brass thinks about him as the man.

Nope, he is significantly better at managing a bullpen than Matheny.

My feelings on Girardi are simply based on watching plenty of Yankees games during his tenure. Glad to see this article back up what my eyes tell me.

It seems like it all fell apart for him in 2017 then by underutilizing his best relievers and overutilizing his worst
